Shen Li is a high-ranking war goddess in the celestial realm who is ambushed and cast down to the mortal world, landing in the body of a mortal woman and stranded without her powers. She is rescued by Xing Zhi — seemingly a wandering ordinary immortal, actually one of the most ancient and powerful beings in existence — who, for reasons he's in no hurry to explain, decides to help her return home. The reversal is the show's engine: Shen Li is the warrior, the general, the one who is too proud to accept help; Xing Zhi's power is expressed through restraint and wisdom rather than force. Zhao Liying gives her most physically commanding performance and Lin Gengxin plays warmth and depth so naturally that Xing Zhi becomes one of C-drama's most genuinely likeable male leads.
